Ovidie was born in 1980. She lives a political youth, and decides to create a political group involved in feminist activist movement when she's only 15 years old. When she's 16, she starts renting porn movies. First her goal is to write text against porn and sexploitation. Then, she understands that her vision of porn is wrong, that the usual feminist speech probably makes a mistake. She's not shocked by the videos she's used to watch. She starts her research about what she will call later "feminism e pro sex" (from the English word pro-sex feminism) and discovers an American feminist movement that started to direct porn in the early 80's. She decides to defend sexual freedom and fights for sexual graphic representation. When she's 17, she already knows that she'll become a pornstar. She's a philosophy student, 18 years old, and married to a young professor, when she decides to be involved in porn-business, first as an actress. After few movies, French journalists are interested by what they call an "intellectual pornographer" or a "UFO in porn business". She's invited on TV in many Talk-Shows and become very famous in France. She's on adult magazine covers (Penthouse, Hot Videos) and is the new french sex icon. After working only one year as an actress, she's 20 when she directs her first movie for Marc Dorcel's company, "Orgie En Noir", and receive the erotic award "Hot D'Or" for the best script. She's now the youngest porn director of international cinema history. She's 21 when she directs her second movie, "Lilith", which is considered in France by erotic journalists as "the R-rated movie of the decade". Lilith has been reviewed in mainstream cinema magazines, and has been shown in the modern art museum Palais de Tokyo in Paris. She wins in Brussels the award of the best porn director, and becomes one of the only respected female director. The same year, her first book, "Porno Manifesto" is published. She also writes quickly two other short texts. She's invited by University as an expert for conferences about feminism, activism, body in art, ect. She appears in mainstream movies, like "Mortel Transfer" of Jean-Jacques Beineix, and in "Le Pornographe" of Bertrand Bonello (awarded in Cannes for La Semaine Internationale de La Critique). She's on the cover of mainstream cinema magazines like "Le Film Français" and "Synopsis". For her fight for pornography, condom, and her work in mainstream medias, she receives the erotic Hall of Fame "Hot d'Or d'Honneur" in Cannes, with Larry Flint and Sharon Mitchell. In 2003, she's on the cover of the British Times Magazine. She's also invited in Italy in the famous TV show "Maurizio Constanzo Show". The same year she directs a sexology porn movie for couples "Sexuality, Mode d'emploi " in three volumes. Ovidie is now producer of the company Raziel Media. She wrote a kind of Dogma about Sex Work. She still directs porn movies, like the modern pin-up one called 'Riot Girls', and she directs as well documentaries and a musical band dvd. She's still a writer, and three new books will be shortly available (in October 2004 : In sex we trust / Backstage for the editor La Musardine , In sex we Trust / On stage for the editor Alixe ; in January 2005 a philosophy book about the Body for the editor Autrement).
